This is Richard Feynmans second messenger lecture in a series of four (I believe) on the character of physical law, given while he was still a lecturer in Cornell. This is before Caltech and the Nobel prize and is an absolute gem of a video in my collection. Since I don’t have the other videos, I was a bit hesitant to upload this till now since someone else might have wanted to who did have all the lectures. If anyone does, by all means upload the whole series and I will gladly delete this video. The lecture displays Feynmans unique teaching style and his philosophical outlook on physical thinking by explaining the motion of planets around the sun.

Where do I begin on Feynman? He is probably my greatest hero, tied with two others. I feel ashamed to mention this for I don’t have the strength and tenacity to pursue with that much intensity the goal for which I set out for, but the fact that I deeply admire this man is undeniable …whatever little that means. If you don’t know about Feynman, stop reading this putrid collection of characters that I have strung up and go and watch the Horizon interview of his from the 80’s here on YouTube..or elsewhere, THEN go to wikipedia. It is a crash course in honesty, objectivity and rationality ….three pillars for any true thinker.

While with the Horizon interview you get to know Feynman the man, I haven’t seen any other video till date that reveals Feynman the physicist as much as this video. Both his outlook as well as his ability to acquire the same result with different mathematical frameworks are on display here. It was the last trait that really made Feynman a superhuman physicist. He seemed to be very well versed in finding shortcuts and new routes between places, finding new patterns over existing ones.
